As the search for alternative fuels continues, the Nordic Ecolabel today announced the first ecolabelled fuel. Methane from the Swedish company FordonsGas Sverige AB is the world’s first ecolabelled fuel, having fulfilled the rigorous criteria of the Nordic Ecolabel.

Stockholm, Sweden. October 20th, 2008. Several of Blå Station’s chairs have passed the Nordic Ecolabel's environmental and quality criteria and been awarded the Nordic Ecolabel. This increases the number of Nordic Ecolabelled furniture on the market for both private consumers and office buyers.

Stockholm, Sweden. October 13, 2008. A global study commissioned by the British Government has named Nordic Ecolabelling, the Nordic Council of Ministers ecolabelling agency as a world leader. In three of the nine categories the Nordic Ecolabel won best practice for its certification of sustainability.

The Nordic Ecolabel today announced the requirements that would enable companies to apply for a Nordic Ecolabel for fuels. Fuel products that can apply for this Nordic Ecolabel, commonly known as "The Swan" in the Nordic countries, are ethanol, biodiesel, biogas and/or a mixture of these fuels.

Boston-Power, founded by Swedish reasearcher Christina Lampe-Önnerud, is the first lithium-ion battery manufacturer to receive an environmental certification in China. The ceremony, held in Beijing, coincides with the environmental industry mission lead by Swedish prime minister Fredrik Reinfeldt. A year ago the company launched the first battery for portable computers with the Nordic ecolabel.
