Classical Corona

Classical Corona discharge is obtained using an electrode connected to a high voltage source, a counter electrode at potential zero and a dielectric used as a barrier.

Then a discharge takes place which is called Corona Effect or Corona.

The system is used worldwide for the surface treatment of PE or PP films, for extruders, for laminating and printing installations.

In addition to plastic films, the process is also used with offset printing or pad  printing machines or for silkscreening. In such as case, the counter electrode at potential zero is a mandril supporting the part.
