Balancing turbocharger core assemblies

When vehicle engine turbochargers are overhauled, the unbalance of the assembled turbocharger core assembly must be checked at the operating speed. The balancing machine is used to detect and correct unbalance in th core assembly. Its range of application is matched to the requirements in repair/overhaul companies.

But it is also ideal for cost effective balancing in test and development departments. Thanks to the high quality metrology, the static unbalance is very precisely determined during the first measurement run, so that only one to two correction steps result in a core assembly within tolerance. The unbalance correction is made at the shaft nut on the compressor side using a portable grinder. It is not necessary to transfer the core assembly from the machine into a machine tool.

Due to standardised core assembly adaptors, which can be quickly and easily exchanged, a broad range of turbocharger cartridge assemblies can be balanced.
