Fiber Driver Gigabit Ethernet and Multirate Multiplexers

The Fiber Driver® EM316xxMX2R time division multiplexers (TDM) are access modules designed to boost optic fiber and wavelength utilization while providing trunk redundancy capabilities. They allow significant cost reduction and higher fiber usage over a pure optical multiplexing solution. The modules aggregate two copper Ethernet data channels onto one full-duplex fiber optic trunk to distances of over 100 kilometers.

These modules use standard SFP field-installable transceivers, allowing individual interface optimization for each application including the full range of MRV GbE and 1GFC SFPs for single-mode fiber, multi-mode fiber, and copper interfaces. They integrate into a wide range of applications including CWDM and DWDM.

Product characteristics :

  • Two Gigabit Ethernet or 2 Fibre Channel data channels over one BIDI trunk using a single wavelength – optimizes the existing fiber plant and available wavelengths

  • Transparent operation – does not alter data or packet framing

  • Ultra low latency – excellent for Digital Video applications

  • Trunk link redundancy with under 100 ns switchover – no loss of service during primary link failure, essential for mission-critical applications
