The new series features an AES-hardware based full disk encryption utilizing a 256-bit key, which permits the drive alone to provide the highest data security by simply setting a password. Since the 256-bit key is controlled within the drive, unlike sofware-based encryption, it provides stronger data protection from unauthorized access. The drive will automatically encrypt and decrypt the data transparently to the user with minimal impact on the system performance.
