While safety shutdowns were handled using fixed wiring in the past, they are now implemented using virtual wiring in Automation Studio. The necessary function blocks are PLCopen compliant and certified by TÜV Rheinland. Unlike with real wiring, an identical copy of the safety application is processed in the safe controller. This completely eliminates wiring errors during series production and significantly shortens commissioning times. The safe PLC offers possibilities that were never possible with real wiring.
