Strategy
We plan to leverage our integrated organization to remain a major producer of vinyl products in Europe and stay competitive over time by posting positive earnings at the bottom of the cycle. To achieve this objective, we introduced a consolidation plan in 2005 that calls for the closure of uncompetitive units, a shift back to core businesses at some sites and an increase in the capacity of our most competitive plants. Arkema’s investment in QVC, a chlorochemicals company in Qatar, opens the door to potential business opportunities through partnerships in the Middle East.
