» The coating of plastic goods
has become more and more important over the last decade with the major application areas being the automotive, construction as well as electrical goods and packaging industry. This development is strongly driven by the good mechanical properties, easy controllable flexibility and high durability at a relatively low cost level of plastic materials such as PP, PE, PA, PC. Unfortunately, these very desirable properties are accompanied by difficulties in obtaining coating adhesion due to the low surface energy of the plastic surface.
The functions of plastic coatings can be aesthetically driven to comply with colour trends of the various industries, or can be triggered by improved functionality of the surface such as haptic, increase of chemical resistance, durability as well as scratch resistance. DIC Performance Resins has taken up the challenge and is offering a range of products for the formulation of water based as well as solvent based coatings which comply with the stringent needs of the automotive, construction, electrical goods and packaging industry. To ensure superior service to our customers we have a dedicated technical service and R&D team at our production site in Vienna as well as in DIC Japan which is constantly pushing the limits of our technologies.
