1. Presentation

Each year in Europe 10 million of cars arrive in their end of life. And each vehicle represents a potential environmental danger if it isn’t well depolluted, dismantled and recycled. Indeed a car has got oil (polluting fluid), brake pad fluid (very corrosive), a lead battery (polluting metal), air conditioning gas (greenhouse effect gas), non biodegradable plastics …

The recent European Directive 200-53 concerning the End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV)’s treatment impose to valorise 85% of the car mass from 2006 and 95% from 2015.

Re-source Industries is the first European car dismantling plant responding to the European Directive, and has developed a new way of working for scrapyard. It means it’s more ecological, more safety, more efficient, in other words more industrial. The dismantling unit has been designed to treat 25 vehicles per team and per day.

2. The company

Re-source Industries’s shareholders are INDRA investment specialised in the management, collecting, and recycling of ELV, and SITA France (branch of Suez) well-known in the waste and material treatment sector.
Re-source Industries activities are based on 4 main axes:
- Research and development: Re-source Industries designs continuously new tools and process in order to improve and facilitate the dismantling and recycling operations, and help the existing cars dismantlers to reach the European targets.
Re-source Industries works on studies and engineering about other End of Life Products Treatment and Recycling (Waste Electrical Electronic Equipment, End of Life Means of Transport (aircrafts, boats, trains, lifting trucks...).
- Production: Re-source Industries ELV dismantling unit based at Pruniers has been launch in February 2007, and is the fruit of three work years of our engineer team.
- Training: Re-source Industries informs and trains professional to the new dismantling methods, and to the materials identification.
- Consulting: we take part in several European eco-design studies, and are working with car manufacturers (e.g.: Fiat, Renault, PSA…) or parts suppliers (e.g: Faurecia, Inoplast, Mecaplast, Ranger, Saint-Gobain, Treves, Valeo, Visteon…) about new innovating way to recycling particular parts or materials of cars.
